    A few words from Digby…

Julie and I have spent over 25 years together, practising meditation and self-awareness and on a worldly level, self-sufficiency, with poly-tunnels, a few chickens and the like. This was firstly to supplement the income we received working as alternative therapists/healers on a donation basis, but soon because of the sense of well being it brought working with the land and eating our own, much tastier food.  Also, living this Way allowed me the freedom to paint for days at a time.

Digby CurtisIt was whilst living in an isolated cottage sat deep within five acres of land in the middle of the woods that I started glimpsing Faeries, often as balls of light drifting around the flowers, though occasionally coming right through the walls into our rooms. Once or twice I saw perfect miniature limbs within these nebulous lights, and the rest was added by my artist’s imagination.

My Faery Art was well received at festivals in the UK, and now it seems, all around the world, though this Collection has only one or two of the originals in it, the rest are new and closer to what I’ve been attempting to capture of the Faery World feeling.  They have been greatly improved by Julie’s photographic work, helping to create the atmospheric backgrounds, having passed many an hour walking the Island looking for moss covered branches in dappled light and shade.

I’ve spent most of my 65 years chasing Self Awareness, spending a year with Sai Baba in India, following months in the Himalayas of Nepal, and many years studying Advaita in the works of Papaji, Nisargadatta, and Ramana Maharshi. This led me to  sitting quietly at the bottom of our garden, getting to know the Satguru within me, rather than looking for a God outside of me.  Occasionally now I find myself playing the role of teacher for others, though I’m still nought but a fool to mySelf.

The Fantasy/Spiritual Art Collection reflects my journey of Self discovery, incorporating some of those esoteric symbols used in religious icons, though no such knowledge is necessary to appreciate them. A few lines hinting at the underlying meanings are given on the back of each card for those seeking something more than just the image itself.

Some of these pieces are taken from my “Cosmic Comic”, a film still in progress, showing how God, Brahman, Consciousness, Light, the quantum world and cosmology are essentially the same. The film maps out the subtle energy field that underlies all manifestation, describing a cuboid metaphysical Matrix, discovered by such as Plato and Pythagorus, and inside of which our Cosmos appears. Hopefully entertaining and enlightening too, it attempts to ‘describe the indescribable’ experience of a magical journey within you, by painting pictures in your mind’s eye.

My book, an esoteric fantasy is now available through iBooks. and the link is available in the menu MY BOOKS.

Thank you for taking time out to read this bio and I do hope you enjoy the Artwork on our site, and perhaps find some inspiration in the words too.

    Sai Ram, Digby

    About Julie Curtis…

Julie CurtisOne of my earliest memories is of finding my first cobweb spangled in dew, many years later I can vividly recall that moment and feel the atmosphere and particular light of that early morning.

Natures’ bounty has always resonated deeply within me weaving a rich texture throughout my life.  This has led me to living in quiet rural locations and naturally finding myself working the land providing both physical and spiritual nourishment.  I spent many years working as a massage therapist which broadened my interest and knowledge in natural and holistic healthcare.  Watching and discerning these natural rhythms, cycles and interconnectedness around me brought an understanding of my own rhythms and led to my own unfolding and exploration of inner realms.

Creativity plays a big part in my expression and well being.  Living close to the coast provides a wealth of beach combed material to inspire me and the local scrapyard always has plenty of old copper wire for my wire sculpture.

Digby has always supported and encouraged my creativity and his gift of a camera was the start of a fine friendship with photography and a wonderful new walking companion!  Under the pretext of taking pictures I’m encouraged to witness the wonder of a sunrise over a mist shrouded silent estuary or a fiery sunset reflected upon clouds and wet sand.  A fleeting shaft of light illuminating a tiny toadstool within a mossy nook and my heart overflows with my good fortune at witnessing such beauty.

I’m both delighted and humbled to play a part in Digby’s art and the new venture that is New Fantasy Art.

    The Bio of James-Dean Curtis

james dean curtisI have travelled the country over the last thirteen years representing the Isle of Wight Garlic Farm. This has been a wonderful experience seeing some beautiful places and meeting with many wonderful people, and throughout this time I have discovered my passion for selling and developing my customer service skills.

The work with the farm is seasonal, giving me the opportunity to go traveling each winter, and so I have been fortunate enough to see various countries in Asia, with India being the place to have the most impact on my life.

Spending time in various ashrams has helped with my perspective on the world and sown the seeds of my spiritual growth.

I like to get out and about biking across the beautiful countryside of the Isle of Wight  and enjoying a variety of pastimes such as kite buggying and computer gaming.

I was invited by my father to bring my range of skills and experience into the creation and expansion of New fantasy Art and am enjoying this new family venture.
